Dr. Francesco Ragazzi is an Assistant Professor in International Relations. He obtained his PhD in political science from Sciences Po (Paris) and Northwestern University (Chicago). Prior to his appointment at Leiden University, he was a Research Fellow at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London (2008-2009). His dissertation examined the diaspora politics of the war in Yugoslavia (1991-1995), and more particularly the redefinition and government of “deterritorialised nations” through transnational practices of sovereignty. His research interests include diaspora politics, nationalism, citizenship, sovereignty, security and conflict in International Relations. He is a founding member of the c.a.s.e. collective, member of the editorial and communication team of the ISA Journal International Political Sociology and on the editorial board of the journal Cultures & Conflits . In 2010-2011 Dr. Ragazzi is teaching courses on International Politics (Leiden University Campus), Identity and Transnational Politics (MSc Seminar) as well as International Security (MSc Thesis Seminar).
