Karin Roelofs is Universitair Hoofddocent bij de sectie Klinische, Gezondheids- en Neuropsychologie, Universiteit Leiden. Haar onderzoek centreert zich rond cognitieve en emotionele regulatieprocessen in relatie tot angst (social fobie en PTSD) en somatoforme stoornissen (conversie en somatisatie).
Ze is met name geïnteresseerd in de relatie tussen psychologische stress en prefrontale emotieregulatie. Momenteel verricht ze veel onderzoek in het kader van haar VIDI-project: ‘The Psychoneuroendocrinology of Social Anxiety: An Emotion Regulation Approach'.
Naast onderzoeks- en onderwijsactiviteiten werkt ze als GZ-psycholoog en cognitief gedragstherapeut bij de GGZ Leiden.
