Bart Terwel studeerde psychologie aan de Universiteit Leiden met een specialisatie in de sociale en organisatiepsychologie (september 2000 - september 2004). Voor zijn afstudeerscriptie deed hij onderzoek naar de invloed van heuristieken (i.e., vuistregels) en tijdsdruk op het benutten van integratief potentieel in onderhandelingen.
Na zijn studie begon Bart als promovendus binnen de vakgroep “sociale en organisatiepsychologie” (september 2004 - september 2008). Onder supervisie van Dr. Fieke Harinck, Prof. Dr. Naomi Ellemers en Dr. Dancker Daamen onderzocht hij antecedenten en gevolgen van publiek vertrouwen in organisaties die betrokken zijn bij de ontwikkeling van en de besluitvorming over technologie om koolstofdioxide af te vangen, te transporteren en op te slaan (i.e., CCS technologie).
Na afronding van zijn proefschrift getiteld “Origins and consequences of public trust: Towards an understanding of public acceptance of carbon dioxide capture and storage” is hij werkzaam geweest als docent bij deze vakgroep (september 2008 - januari 2009). Momenteel houdt Bart zich als post-doc onderzoeker bezig met vervolgonderzoek naar publieke perceptie en acceptatie van CCS technologie.

Mijn onderzoek richt zich op factoren die van invloed (kunnen) zijn op de publieke perceptie en de mate van acceptatie van CCS technologie.
