Prof. dr. Henk Dekker (1949) is hoogleraar Politieke Socialisatie en Integratie aan de Graduate School of Social and Behavioural Sciences en universitair hoofddocent aan het Instituut Politieke Wetenschap van de Faculteit der Sociale Wetenschappen van de Universiteit Leiden. Daarnaast is hij vice-decaan van deze faculteit. Hij studeerde Politicologie aan de Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam (1966-1972) en promoveerde aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen (1986). Hij was leraar maatschappijleer op een school voor havo en vwo tijdens en na zijn studie (1970-1975). Was bijzonder hoogleraar voor de sociaal-wetenschappelijke studie van de relatie tussen Duitsland en Nederland aan de Universiteit Utrecht (1998-2008) en directeur van het European Research Centre on Migration and Ethnic Relations (2002-2008). In 2006 ontving hij de Nevitt Sanford Award van de International Society of Political Psychology.
